“Fully Return to Christianity,” Mrs. Akume Urges Husband

Mrs. Regina Akume, lawmaker representing Gboko/Tarka federal constituency in the National Assembly, has publicly urged her husband, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume, to fully return to Christianity, emphasizing that his life achievements are grounded in his faith.

The appeal was made during the wedding reception of the SGF’s son, held on Sunday in Makurdi, Benue State. The event coincided with Senator Akume’s 72nd birthday celebration, which took place last weekend. A video of Mrs. Akume’s address at the occasion has since gone viral on social and conventional media platforms.

In a heartfelt birthday prayer for her husband, Mrs. Akume asked God to grant him long life, sound health, and wisdom, while urging him to maintain his Christian foundation.

“I pray that the Lord will increase his years, grant him good health of mind and body, and give him clarity in thinking and doing things rightly,” she said.

Highlighting the central role of Christianity in Senator Akume’s rise to prominence, Mrs. Akume cautioned against abandoning the faith. “He should remember that he is a Christian, and it is Christianity that brought him this far. To abandon Christianity now and pursue anything else, he will not be successful,” she said.

She added a personal appeal, saying, “My advice to him is to come back to Christianity and follow the line of Christ.” She further explained that their successes and progress in life have been through Jesus Christ alone. “We came this far not through any other means but through Jesus Christ. And Jesus Christ is still alive and still working, doing things for us. I wish that he will come back to Christianity,” she stated.

Mrs. Akume’s remarks come amid public discussions on social media and mainstream platforms regarding Senator Akume’s reported marriage to another wife, identified as Her Highness, Queen Zaynab Ngohemba-George Akume Dajoh, a notable figure in Nigeria’s royal and elite social circles.
