(Full List): Victor Osimhen Secures Spot on 2023 CAF Best Player Shortlist
In a recent announcement, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the final list for the 2023 CAF Best Player award, with Victor Osimhen representing Nigeria in the esteemed lineup.
CAF revealed, “The shortlists for the men’s categories for the CAF Awards 2023 have been announced,” marking Osimhen’s inclusion as the sole Nigerian contender. The talented Napoli forward, who clinched both the Italian Scudetto and the league’s top scorer title this year, is set to compete for the coveted accolade. Osimhen also secured the eighth position in the 2023 Ballon d’Or awards held in Paris a few weeks ago.
Among the notable players sharing the limelight in the final 10 nominees are the current titleholder, Senegalese forward Sadio Mane, Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez, and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi.
The ultimate winners in each category will be determined through votes from a diverse panel, including the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, head coaches, and captains of member associations and clubs engaged in the group stages of the Interclub competitions, according to CAF.
The highly anticipated Awards Gala is scheduled for Monday, December 11, 2023, in Marrakech, Morocco.
