Full List: APC Ends PDP’s Dominance, Wins 20 Of 23 LGAs In Rivers Polls

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded a landslide victory in the Rivers State local government elections, winning 20 out of 23 councils in Saturday’s polls.

The elections, conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), saw the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secure only three local governments. This marks the first time since the return of democracy in 1999 that the APC has emerged as the dominant force in Rivers State politics.

RSIEC Chairman, Dr. Michael Odey, announced the results on Sunday at the commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt and confirmed that certificates of return will be issued to the winners on Monday, September 1.

Despite the outcome, the polls witnessed low voter turnout, with many residents staying away from the exercise.
