INEC Provides Updated Voters Register and Political Parties List for Rivers LG Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the updated voters register for Rivers State alongside the list of all registered political parties in Nigeria, in preparation for the upcoming Local Government Council elections.
In a letter dated March 13, 2025, INEC, through its Administrative Secretary Odor Napoleon Emezuiruke, formally notified the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) of the release. The letter, addressed to the RSIEC Chairman, confirmed the delivery of a soft copy of the voters register, following a formal request by the state electoral body.
RSIEC subsequently acknowledged receipt of the documents through a press statement signed by its Commissioner for Media and Civic Education, Tamunotonye Tobins. The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting free, fair, and credible elections, scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
INEC’s updated list of political parties includes major parties such as the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), the Action Peoples Party (APP), along with 15 other parties.
With the updated register and party list now in hand, RSIEC is intensifying its preparations as the state moves closer to the August polls.
