FRSC Reveals Cause of Road Crash Involving Anthony Joshua, Others
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has identified overspeeding and wrongful overtaking as the primary causes of a road accident involving heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua. The incident occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near the Sinoma area in Sagamu, Ogun State.
The crash involved a black Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua and a stationary red commercial truck. According to the FRSC, the Lexus Jeep, reportedly traveling above the legally prescribed speed limit, lost control during an overtaking maneuver and collided with the parked truck.
A total of five adult males were involved in the accident. Two people died, one sustained injuries, and two others were unharmed. Joshua was rescued from the vehicle with minor injuries.
The FRSC highlighted that excessive speed and improper overtaking are serious traffic violations that frequently contribute to fatal road accidents on Nigerian highways. The agency continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
