Anthony Joshua Discharged From Hospital

 

Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital after being deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home, following the tragic road accident that occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025.

 

The governments of Lagos and Ogun states have again expressed deep condolences to the families of the two young men, Lateef Ayodele and Gami Cina, who lost their lives in the accident involving Joshua. Both state governments described the incident as sad and unfortunate, offering prayers that God grants the repose of the deceased souls and gives their families the strength to bear the painful loss.

 

Earlier on Tuesday, Joshua and his mother visited a funeral home in Lagos to pay their final respects to the deceased as preparations were made for the repatriation of their remains later in the evening.

 

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun also expressed appreciation to members of the public for the overwhelming show of concern, love, and sympathy since the incident occurred. They further thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the fatherly support he provided throughout the period.

 

The two state governments commended the medical team at Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi, for the care given to Joshua and others who sustained injuries in the accident, describing the professionalism and quality of medical attention as commendable.

 

The statement was jointly signed by Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, and Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy in Ogun State.
