Four Ex-Ministers, Former APC Chairman, Top Businessman Dump APC for ADC in Move Against Tinubu

Six high-profile figures, including four former ministers who served under President Muhammadu Buhari, have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The move is seen as a direct challenge to President Bola Tinubu’s leadership and a strategic step toward mounting a strong opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The defectors officially took over the leadership of the ADC on Wednesday, announcing the party as their new platform to pursue their political ambitions. Their departure from the APC highlights growing internal discontent within the ruling party over the direction of the current administration.

Among the defectors are Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation; Abubakar Malami, former Minister of Justice; Hadi Sirika, former Minister of Aviation; and Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Interior. They are joined by Kashim Imam, a businessman and former board chairman of TETFUND, as well as Chief John Odigie Oyegun, a former National Chairman of the APC.
