Former Imo Governor Ihedioha’s Aide Arrested for Alleged Kidnapping, Armed Robbery

Elias Igboayaka Dikeigbo, a former Special Adviser on Motor Parks in the Orlu zone to the immediate past Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, has been apprehended on charges of kidnapping and armed robbery. The arrest was made by the Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Saturday.

According to reports, Elias’s arrest followed confessions from several of his alleged gang members, who were earlier apprehended by local vigilantes in Umuna community. The detained individuals identified Elias as the leader of their criminal operations.

“Elias, who serves as the Community Youth Leader of his town, has been implicated in various criminal activities in Orlu and surrounding areas. He has been on the police wanted list for numerous armed robbery cases,” revealed a source close to the investigation.

The source further disclosed that Elias owns several properties suspected to have been acquired through proceeds from his illegal activities. The community has expressed relief and gratitude towards both the vigilantes and the police for their efforts in capturing the suspect. They have urged the authorities to ensure that Elias is not released back into society, citing his history of previous arrests and releases.

Confirming the arrest, Mr. Henry Okoye, the Public Relations Officer of the Imo State Police Command, stated, “Elias has been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation. More suspects have been arrested in connection with this case, and a comprehensive investigation is underway.”

Mr. Okoye emphasized that the arrest is part of the command’s ongoing commitment to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety and security of its residents.
