Flood: Lagos Miscreants Charge Passersby N100 To Use Makeshift Bridge

Several miscreants have been arrested by Lagos State Government officials for allegedly charging residents N100 to use a makeshift bridge along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. This incident, which occurred at the Tradefair underbridge, was prompted by severe flooding that has submerged significant parts of Lagos.

A 54-second video clip circulating online shows hoodlums extorting residents attempting to access the alternate route at the Tradefair underbridge. Residents attribute this situation to the ongoing construction along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

In the video, a woman’s voice is heard saying, “This is Tradefair underbridge, pay N100 before you can take the passage. And we have a President in this country. Look at their faces.”

The Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed that the miscreants have been apprehended by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps. On his social media handle, Wahab stated that the suspects would be prosecuted.

“Following a complaint made by @ARISE0214, miscreants charging people for using the makeshift crossover bridge at Tradefair this morning (Wednesday) have been arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps @LAGESCOfficial. They will be prosecuted according to the law,” Wahab posted.

The flood has caused significant disruption, inundating houses and roads throughout Lagos. Residents continue to struggle with the aftermath, and officials are working to address the ongoing challenges posed by the severe weather.
