Fire Guts Commercial Building in Anambra
A commercial building located on Atani Road by Uga junction in the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra was engulfed in flames early Friday morning.
Chukwudi Chiketa, the fire chief of Anambra Fire Service, disclosed that they received a distress call at approximately 5:17 a.m. and promptly dispatched firefighters to the scene.
“The incident occurred on the top floor of a storey building inside GMO company situated at Atani Road by Uga junction, Okpoko,” Mr. Chiketa reported.
Although the top floor of the one-storey building was severely affected, the swift response of the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to other structures and properties within the company’s premises.
“The firefighters managed to contain the fire, preventing it from escalating beyond the top floor. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined,” Mr. Chiketa noted.
He urged residents to contact the fire service immediately in any emergency to minimize damage before firefighters arrive.
