Finnish Government Releases Two of Simon Ekpa’s Accomplices

The Finnish government has released two suspects arrested alongside Simon Ekpa over alleged subversive activities, SK Blog has learned.

Ekpa, a self-proclaimed Biafra separatist leader, was apprehended on November 21, 2024, alongside four others for alleged terror-related offenses. These include incitement to violence and the financing of terrorism in Nigeria. Following his arrest, the district court of Päijät-Häme ordered his detention on charges of spreading terrorist propaganda on social media.

While the specific identities of the two released suspects remain undisclosed, government sources confirmed their release but declined to provide further details. Ekpa, however, remains in custody, facing ongoing investigations and legal proceedings.

This development comes as Nigeria intensifies efforts to extradite Ekpa. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, announced that the Federal Government has submitted the necessary requirements for Ekpa’s extradition to Finland. While General Musa refrained from providing detailed updates, he affirmed that appropriate legal steps are underway.

Sources revealed that Finnish authorities are collaborating with their Nigerian counterparts to address the violent activities of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Nigeria’s Southeast region.
