FG to Commence N150,000 Grant Disbursement to MSMEs in Enugu
The Federal Government has announced plans to begin the disbursement of a N150,000 grant to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Enugu, as part of efforts to support the growth of local businesses.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima made this known on Thursday while inaugurating the fifth edition of the national MSMEs clinic at the Enugu Trade Fair Complex. The event is part of the government’s broader initiative to provide practical solutions to the challenges faced by MSMEs across the country.
The MSME clinics, launched in various states earlier this year, aim to revive the struggling economy by offering direct support to small businesses. Previous editions were held in Benue, Ogun, Ekiti, and Jigawa states.
Speaking at the event, Shettima confirmed that President Bola Tinubu had approved the grant, which is intended as an unconditional award to deserving MSMEs. “I am pleased to announce that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has mandated a grant of N150,000 to outstanding MSMEs exhibiting at today’s event,” Shettima said. He emphasized that the grant does not require repayment, underscoring the administration’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and economic growth.
In addition to the grant announcement, Shettima inaugurated an ultra-modern MSME fashion hub in Enugu. The facility, which meets global standards, is expected to boost the local economy by creating an estimated 48,000 jobs through the production of fashion items ranging from military uniforms to school and corporate wear.
Shettima also praised Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for his support in the establishment of the fashion hub. “This hub is one of the largest commissioned so far, equipped with advanced technology to enhance fashion manufacturing in the state,” he said.
Governor Mbah expressed his gratitude to the federal government, noting that the initiative aligns with Enugu’s broader economic development goals.
