Fatal Crash Claims Life of Woman in Anambra
In a devastating incident at Ihembosi Junction, Okija along Owerri Road, Anambra State, a fatal auto crash has claimed the life of a female passenger. The collision involved a Nissan commercial bus from Rivers Joy Mass Transit and a Nissan Pathfinder Jeep with an unidentified registration number.
Mr. Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State, confirmed the details of the accident to reporters in Awka on Thursday. The preliminary investigation suggests that the accident resulted from route violation and speeding.
According to Irelewuyi, eyewitnesses recounted that the collision occurred between the Nissan Pathfinder Jeep and the Rivers Joy Mass Transit vehicle. Subsequently, the bus driver lost control, leading to a somersault.
Out of the 10 individuals involved in the crash—comprising four male adults, five female adults, and a male child—one female adult lost her life. A male adult and a female adult sustained injuries, while the remaining seven were fortunate to escape unhurt.
Promptly responding to the emergency, community youths rushed the injured victims to F.S Kings Hospital, Umuohi in Ihembosi. Regrettably, the deceased victim was conveyed to the hospital’s mortuary.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the critical importance of road safety, with authorities emphasizing the need for vigilance and adherence to traffic regulations to prevent such tragic occurrences.
