Families Plead for Help: Six Sisters Abducted, Nabeeha Killed, as Kidnapping Crisis Deepens in Abuja
Nigerians unite on social media to fundraise for the release of six sisters, including Nabeeha, abducted by kidnappers in Abuja on January 2, 2024. The harrowing incident, revealed by a cousin on Twitter, saw the death of an uncle during the abduction.
The kidnappers demanded a N60 million ransom for the father’s release, setting a deadline for the sisters. Tragically, Nabeeha was killed as the deadline passed, prompting an increase in the ransom demand to N100 million. Outraged netizens rally on social media, urging swift action from the police and the Nigerian government.
Former media aide to Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (Rtd.), Bashir Ahmad, implores the @PoliceNG to prioritize the case, emphasizing the urgency of rescuing the remaining victims. He states, “We implore the Nigeria Police to deploy all necessary resources to safely rescue the remaining victims. Thank you!”
Citizens express their frustration, with user hayateey1 reminding others that silence in the face of such tragedies makes them no different from the authorities they criticize. The outcry extends to questions about national security, with concerns raised about the safety of ordinary Nigerians.
The online community demands accountability, as user KawuGarba emphasizes the potential threat to everyone: “The innocent girl Nabeeha executed by armed bandits terrorists could be any of us.”
With increasing pressure on the government, user Adedayo_agarau calls for an end to the institutionalized criminal rings causing the abduction of innocent citizens, stating, “IT HAS TO STOP.”
The frustration extends to inquiries directed at public figures, with @wizarab10 urging @IretiKingibe to use her influence to secure the release of the kidnapped daughters. Meanwhile, the police respond to allegations of silence, asserting that they have been actively working on the matter and urging the family to collaborate for a resolution.
As the nation awaits updates, the collective call for action intensifies, demanding a swift and effective response to ensure the safe release of the remaining sisters and justice for Nabeeha.
