False Accusation: Nigerian Police Detain 18-Year-Old for Alleging Woman Stole His Private Parts
The Delta State Police Command has apprehended an 18-year-old boy, identified as Sunday Linus, for falsely accusing an elderly woman of pilfering his private parts. The incident unfolded on Sunday, October 8th, 2023, on DBS Road in Asaba, Delta State.
According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, the young suspect, Ebube Linus, had raised a false alarm claiming that an older woman, who was traveling in a tricycle, had somehow made his manhood (penis) disappear with a mere touch.
This audacious accusation swiftly garnered attention, leading to the formation of a hostile mob comprising over 100 individuals who cornered the woman. The enraged crowd proceeded to strip her naked and subjected her to a brutal beating, putting her life in grave danger.
Upon receiving reports of the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of GRA Division in Asaba swiftly mobilized a team of police officers to the scene. Their intervention was crucial in rescuing the beleaguered woman and arresting the false accuser, Ebube Linus.
However, a thorough investigation by law enforcement revealed that there was no factual basis for the allegation. The suspect’s manhood was found to be entirely intact, exposing the fabricated nature of his claims. The consequences of this reckless act are dire, as the distressing video footage of the woman being mercilessly beaten and humiliated circulated widely on the internet.
The Delta State Police Command has taken a strong stance against such acts of vigilantism and mob justice. They are now launching a manhunt for every individual involved in the incident, as they will be apprehended and subjected to legal repercussions in accordance with the law. The misguided individuals who participated in this act of violence will be held accountable alongside the 18-year-old suspect.
This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of false accusations and the importance of adhering to the rule of law rather than resorting to self-help or vigilante justice. The victim in this case, a mother, daughter, and wife, suffered unjustly due to baseless allegations, highlighting the critical need for a fair and just legal system to address such matters.
