Ex-Konga CEO’s Death Not Suicide, Says Family

The family of Nick Imudia, former CEO of e-commerce giant Konga and Group CEO of D.light International, has denied reports that he died by suicide. They assert that the cause of his death is still under investigation.

Imudia, who was on a brief visit to Lagos, Nigeria, from his base in Nairobi, Kenya, reportedly passed away while medical personnel were still attempting to save him. The Imudia family expressed concerns about the media’s premature and inaccurate reporting.

In a statement by Dr. Anthony N. Imudia, the family refuted claims that Nick had contacted family members with instructions prior to his death. They emphasized that the Lagos State Police are investigating, and that suicide has been ruled out as a cause.

“The family of Nick Imudia is unhappy with the unprofessional manner in which the media has characterized his death as suicide. Nick did not contact his brother in the U.S. or his daughter with any final instructions,” the statement read. The family questioned how the news was reported so quickly, even before they were informed.

Describing Nick as vibrant and without signs of depression, the family stated, “Nick never showed any signs of stress. The portrayal of his death as suicide is suspect.”

Nick Imudia had a successful career, beginning with Nokia, where he managed operations in Asia and later served as Managing Director for West and Central Africa. He was known for revitalizing Konga’s operations after leaving Nokia.

The family urged the public and media to respect their privacy and avoid spreading unfounded rumors about the circumstances of his death.

Imudia was remembered by colleagues as energetic and optimistic, with no indications of distress in the hours before his sudden death. The family and those who knew him well reject the notion of suicide and request space to grieve without speculation.
