Ex-Konga CEO’s Death: Househelp Reveals Final Interaction with Deceased
The housemaid of the late Nick Imudia, former CEO of Nigerian e-commerce giant Konga, has shared the details of her last conversation with her employer before his death was announced last week.
According to a close friend of Imudia, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the maid recounted that Imudia handed her a piece of paper with five phone numbers, including that of his brother in the United States, the day before he passed away. Imudia reportedly told her, “Keep these numbers, you will need them at the appropriate time.”
The maid then observed Imudia entering the bathroom and heard the shower running. After a while, she became concerned when the shower continued running for an extended period without any response from him. Despite knocking on the door, she received no answer and left the scene. Shortly after, a private guard alerted her to an emergency involving Imudia. Rushing downstairs, she found him in a distressing condition. When she returned upstairs, the shower was still running, but upon opening the bathroom door, she found it empty.
Meanwhile, Imudia’s family has formally requested the release of his body for burial. They have dismissed suicide as the cause of his death, emphasizing that Imudia had never shown signs of stress or depression.
It was learned that detectives from the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigative Department, Yaba, Lagos, are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Imudia’s death and were expecting to interview several individuals as of 11 a.m. yesterday.
