Ex-gov Makarfi Delivers LG For Atiku
A former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has secured his local government for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, in Saturday’s presidential election.
Atiku polled 22,098 in Makarfi Local Government Area of the state, to defeat the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu who had 13,767 votes while Labour Party’s Peter Obi garnered 759 votes.
The electoral officer of the Makarfi LGA, Prof. Maryam Aminu while announcing the result at the INEC Headquarters along Kinshasha road, Kaduna on Monday, said there were 118,150 registered voters for the council out of which 43,888 voters were accredited for Saturday’s polls.
She added that there are 42,046 valid votes while rejected Votes 824 out of the 42,870 total votes cast.
Makarfi, a former Care Taker Committee Chairman of the PDP, was a two-term senator who represented the Northern Senatorial District of the state at the National Assembly.
