Enugu State Governor Receives High Praise for Anti-Insecurity Efforts
In a resounding commendation, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has lauded the administration of Governor Peter Mbah for its unwavering commitment to combating insecurity in Enugu State. Speaking at the official commissioning of the EFCC Enugu Zonal Command Complex on Tuesday, Ribadu commended Governor Mbah for leading the charge against insecurity, asserting that the state has witnessed a significant decline in violence and criminal activities.
Governor Peter Mbah reciprocated the praise by commending the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its successful efforts in fighting corruption. He reiterated his administration’s dedication to a relentless war against corruption and insecurity, emphasizing their pivotal role in propelling Enugu’s economy from $4.4 billion to an ambitious $30 billion while eradicating poverty.
Ribadu expressed gratitude to Governor Mbah, stating, “Security is getting back to normalcy in Enugu State and, by extension, the South East. And you are in the forefront of it. We recognize that and thank you for the good work you are doing.”
Highlighting the decline in violence, Ribadu pointed out the positive impact of leadership, stating, “Before the coming of this administration, police stations were being attacked, law enforcement people were being attacked. People were giving selfish orders. But no more; it is no longer happening.”
Governor Mbah, echoing the commitment to security, urged security agencies and the EFCC to sustain their efforts to consign memories of insecurity to history. He emphasized the importance of reducing corruption to a minimum for economic development, aligning with the objective to make Enugu one of the top three states in Nigeria in terms of GDP.
The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, assured citizens of the South East that the newly commissioned facility would significantly contribute to the fight against corruption. He charged EFCC staff to be doubly committed to the Commission’s mandate, reaffirming their responsibility in fostering development in the region.
The event marked a significant step forward in the collaborative efforts between the Enugu State government and federal agencies in ensuring the safety and prosperity of the state and the broader South East region.
