Enugu-Born Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu Killed by Gunmen in Abuja, Three Children Kidnapped
A prominent veterinary doctor and former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT chapter, Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, has been killed by gunmen in Abuja. The attackers also kidnapped his three children, who are still missing.
The incident occurred in Kubwa, a residential area of the Federal Capital Territory, where armed men reportedly broke into Dr. Ogbu’s home and took him and his children away. His body was later found abandoned by the roadside.
A family friend, Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, confirmed the killing in a Facebook post, saying Dr. Ogbu was taken from his home along with his children and later found dead. He appealed for prayers for the safe release of the children.
Dr. Ogbu, who hailed from Enugu State, was widely respected in the veterinary community for his professionalism and leadership. His death has sparked widespread concern over rising insecurity in Abuja.
The attack comes shortly after the killing of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a journalist with Arise TV, who was murdered during a robbery in Katampe, another area of Abuja. The two incidents have intensified public calls for improved security and more effective policing in the capital.
Police authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but investigations are reported to be underway. Meanwhile, colleagues and friends have expressed shock at the killing, describing it as a devastating loss to both his family and the veterinary profession.
Dr. Ogbu’s family remains in distress as efforts continue to locate and rescue his three abducted children.
