The Leader of the Unity, Freedom Group and Gubernatorial Aspirant of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Lagos State, Engr Adedeji Doherty has sent his warm greetings to Muslims in the State and indeed nationwide on the occasion of Eid el-Fitr, the Festival of Breaking the Fast.
In his message to Muslim faithfuls in Lagos State and the nation at large, Engr Doherty said; Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a time of prayer, reflection, and fasting. It is the holiest month of the Muslim year.
Doherty said, “The Ramadan fast has afforded faithfuls the opportunity to reconnect with their creator and extend the right hand of fellowship to fellow men.”
He reminded all and sundry that “as we celebrate, we should not forget the lessons learnt, to wit, the spirit of piety, alms-giving, of compassion and love for fellow men.”
He stated that the period is a time for “Blessed Celebration” a period to propagate Love, tolerance and camaraderie.
He advised all Muslim faithfuls not to allow the 30 days fasting period go in vain, urging them to seize the opportunity of this period to ensue mutual respect and hence learn more to tolerate each other, work together and be able to in unity, harness the abundant resources of our dear nation.
He said “We must all continue to pray and work hard towards building a peaceful, united and prosperous Nigeria.”
He prayed for more blessings, success and progress for all Muslim faithfuls and indeed all Nigerians.
