Eid Celebration: Fulani Youths Clash Over Girlfriend in Abuja, Two Hospitalized

 

A violent clash erupted among Fulani youths in Katampe, Abuja, during the ongoing Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, leaving two individuals hospitalized. The altercation, reportedly triggered by a dispute over girlfriends, saw the use of dangerous weapons, creating panic in the area.

 

According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the incident on his X handle, the fight broke out around 7:30 p.m. and quickly escalated. Eyewitnesses reported that the confrontation led to chaos, prompting a swift response from security forces.

 

Police patrol teams were dispatched to the scene following distress calls, successfully restoring order. However, the youths involved in the altercation fled into a nearby bush before authorities could apprehend them. The injured individuals, identified as Isiaka Abubakar and Isiaka Mohammed from Ruga Katampe, were rushed to Jareal Hospital in Mpape for medical treatment.

 

Makama further noted that similar violent clashes among Fulani youths have become a recurring issue during major celebrations in the area. In response to the incident, the Sarkin Fulani and Ardo of the community have been summoned to a meeting with Fulani stakeholders, scheduled for April 1, to address the ongoing concerns.
