DSS Arrests Principal Suspects in Uromi Killings, Manhunt Continues
The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested two principal suspects allegedly involved in the brutal killing of 16 travellers in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. The arrests, made in Uromi town, were based on credible intelligence, according to a statement released on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Friday Ituah.
Authorities have confirmed that operatives from various security agencies are intensifying efforts to track down other individuals linked to the gruesome attack. Ituah further stated that the two principal suspects have been transferred to Abuja, where they will undergo further interrogation and face prosecution by the relevant authorities.
The development follows an earlier statement by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, during his condolence visit to Kano State. The governor disclosed that 14 other suspects had already been apprehended in connection with the killings and were also being moved to Abuja for further investigation.
Governor Okpebholo assured the families of the victims that justice would be served and that those responsible for the attacks would face the full weight of the law. He also reiterated his commitment to ensuring that adequate compensation is provided to the affected families, emphasizing that the government would not relent in its pursuit of justice for the victims of the Uromi massacre.
