EFCC Storms Obasanjo Library, Arrests ‘Yahoo Boys’, Seizes Luxury Cars in Midnight Fraud Bust
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Sunday morning reportedly raided the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, arresting several youths suspected to be internet fraudsters. The operation, carried out by EFCC’s Lagos Directorate, took place at the hotel section of the OOPL during a nighttime gathering. The complex, which includes the former president’s penthouse residence, was modelled after the first American Presidential Library built for Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Witnesses captured video footage of the scene showing youths fleeing as EFCC agents moved in. According to sources, the operatives seized more than 20 luxury cars along with other valuable items during the raid. Managing Director of OOPL Ventures, Vitalis Ortese, confirmed the incident but said management was still seeking details from the EFCC on what transpired. EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said he would provide further information once confirmed.
The Sunday operation came just days after EFCC operatives from the Ibadan Zonal Directorate arrested 56 suspected internet fraudsters, including one found with two locally made pistols, at K-Hotel in the Ewekoro area of Ogun State. Items recovered in that raid included six luxury cars, 89 mobile phones, laptops, and incriminating documents. The anti-graft agency said all suspects from both incidents would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
