EFCC Arrests Businesswoman Aisha Achimugu at Abuja Airport
Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu, a prominent businesswoman and socialite, was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja early Tuesday morning. Her legal team confirmed that Achimugu, who had voluntarily returned from London, was taken into custody around 5 a.m.
The arrest follows an order by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja, directing her to present herself to the EFCC on April 29, 2025, in relation to an ongoing investigation into allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering. Her lawyer had previously informed the court that Achimugu intended to comply and appear before the Commission as stated in her court filings.
Justice Ekwo also mandated that Achimugu appear in court on Wednesday, April 30, to continue proceedings connected to the case.
