The Deputy Speaker of the Edo House of Assembly, Yekini Idiaye, has dumped Governor Godwin Obaseki for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, ahead of September 19 gubernatorial election in the state.
Idiaye, who represents Akoko-Edo Constituency I, joined Emmanuel Agbaje, Akoko-Edo Constituency II, Nosayaba Okunbor, Orhiomwon East Constituency in declaring their support for Ize-Iyamu during a visit at his residence in Benin city on Monday.
On why he is backing the APC candidate, Idiaye said “there is no reason for me to defect to another party because there is no single project in my village to show under this present administration.
“I am from Somorika, in Akoko Edo Local government area and my village is the most backward in Akoko Edo.
Others who declared their support for the APC candidate during the visit include Mr. Dumez Ugiagbe, Member-elect, Ovia North East Constituency I, and Mr. Vincent Uwadiae, Member-elect, Ovia North East Constituency II.
