DSS Issues Fresh Warning Against Planned Nationwide Protest, Identifies Sponsors
The Department of State Services (DSS) has issued a stern warning against a planned nationwide protest, urging the yet-to-be-identified leaders to abandon their plans and avoid inciting rage, anarchy, and destruction.
In a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Peter Afunaya, the DSS acknowledged the democratic right to peaceful protest but expressed concerns over a confirmed plot by certain elements to infiltrate the protest and incite chaos and violence.
“The Service has confirmed a sinister plan by some elements to infiltrate the protest and use it to cause chaos and extreme violence in the land,” the statement read.
According to the DSS, the motive behind the protest is political, with the plotters aiming to destabilize the federal and sub-national governments and provoke a regime change by discrediting them among the masses.
The Service further revealed that it has identified the funding sources, sponsors, and collaborators behind the plot. Consequently, it urged parents, guardians, and heads of traditional and academic institutions to warn their children, wards, subjects, and students against participating in the planned protest.
“The Service has also identified, among others, the funding lines, sponsors, and collaborators of the plot. However, it does not think that aggression should be the first line of action in the instance, in handling the emerging scenario,” the DSS stated.
The DSS emphasized its commitment to maintaining peace, in collaboration with other security and law enforcement agencies, and assured that it would employ all legitimate methods to ensure stability.

If the DSS has truly identified the sponsors of the planned nationwide protest why is it difficult to disclose them to the public? Why is the DSS protecting their identities? Very annoying revelation.
