Donald Trump Declines to Invite Israeli PM Netanyahu to Inauguration
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has reportedly chosen not to invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to his upcoming inauguration on January 20, marking the start of his second term. While Trump extended invitations to several global leaders, Netanyahu was notably excluded.
The decision has prompted a reaction from Netanyahu, who has canceled plans to attend the event. According to AFP, Trump referred to Netanyahu as a “warmonger” and an “enemy of peace” who sought to involve the United States in a conflict with Iran.
This development follows a controversial video shared by Trump last week on his Truth Social platform. The video featured Columbia University economics professor Jeffrey Sachs, who criticized Netanyahu’s alleged influence on U.S. foreign policy. Sachs claimed that Netanyahu was instrumental in pushing for the Iraq War and has long advocated for U.S. military action against Iran, describing him as “obsessive” and a “dark son of a bitch.”
In the video, Sachs linked Netanyahu’s actions to broader regional conflicts, asserting that since 1995, Netanyahu had advocated for toppling regimes that support groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, specifically targeting Iraq, Syria, and Iran.
