Convener of Unity Freedom Group (UFG) and former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State felicitates with Muslim faithful in the party and the larger society on the celebration of Eid-el Kabir festival, just as he tells the PDP members in Lagos State to keep hope alive that the party will rise to greater glory in the race for the 2023 elections.
Doherty recalls that the Eid-el Kabir epitomises the symbol of faith in God’s kindness to mankind and the spirit of sacrifice for the ultimate good of humanity, calling on Lagosians and Nigerians at large to develop stronger faith in the nation’s potentials for greatness.
In the Eid-el Kabir message e-signed on his behalf by Mr. Muka Popoola, head of DD Media Office, Doherty charges the leaders of the country to develop the spirit of selfless sacrifice to their respective constituents and the nation, saying that it is only by working to ameliorate the current hardships in the country that everyone can live peacefully with one another in the society.
Eng. Doherty, a successful business man and former gubernatorial aspirant in the Lagos PDP, calls on the government to address the worsening situations of the nation’s poor economy that has led to rising cost of living, increasing rate of unemployment, unstable power supply, seasonal fuel scarcity, aggravated cases of insecurity and the general loss of faith by the citizenry in the governance systems of the country.
He states that Lagos State with its huge revenue, yielding over N50billion monthly in terms of the IGR and federal allocation, can do better than it currently has on the provision and maintenance of physical infrastructure, healthcare, education, housing for the poor and general support for the less privileged in the state.
Doherty laments that a situation where virtually all corners of the communities inhabited by the common people in Lagos State have been turned to a den of street urchins and miscreants signposts the failure of the APC government in the state, calling on the PDP members to brace up to kicking out the APC during the forthcoming elections because the ruling party has failed to provide good governance to the country, and Lagos State in particular.
While calling on the Lagos PDP members not to despair over the current internal challenges facing the party, Doherty says members should be hopeful in the future ahead as he believes that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Saying that he shares the pains of Lagos PDP members, especially aspirants to various positions, who were shortchanged through a viciously manipulated process for the primary elections that has thrown the party into crisis in virtually all the local governments, he called on the PDP leadership at the national level to address the grievances of the aggrieved members in Lagos, in order for the party to work together as a united front and confront the APC with all necessary vigour during the forthcoming 2023 elections.
Doherty says that his faith in PDP as a party and the best vehicle for national development remains unshaken, adding that he will continue to work with other visionary leaders for a greater Lagos PDP that can truly break the age-long jinx of being an opposition party in the state.
He is Not relevant in tbe scheme of things in Lagos.
