Convener of Unity Freedom Group (UFG) and former State Chairman of Lagos PDP, Eng. Adedeji Doherty, has described Prince Yomi Ogungbe as a rare gift to humanity.
Doherty made the remark while felicitating with Ogungbe on the occasion of his birthday celebration today.
Ogungbe’s ambition to contest for the Lagos West Senatorial District ticket of the Lagos PDP in the 2023 general elections was aborted during a contentious party primary that was supposedly conducted in the dead of night at a hidden location in Ikeja.
In a statement e-signed on his behalf by Mr Muka Popoola, the head of DD Media Office, Doherty, who also stepped aside as a gubernatorial aspirant in protest to naked manipulation of the process for the party primary, said he was always proud to have Ogungbe as a great ally in progressive politics, brother and confidante.
According to Doherty, Yomi Ogungbe’s good nature flows from the depth of his kind heart, saying that his sterling character as an unconditional helper of the needy and philanthropist stands him out as a rare gift to humanity.
Doherty said it was a matter for regret that the people of Lagos in the West senatorial district have been denied the great service that Ogungbe would have offered and elevate the PDP as a much more humane political party that the Lagos electorate can trust, better than the APC of the Bola Tinubu gang that has been sucking their blood since the AD era in 1999.
Doherty counselled Ogungbe that his joy should be in the fact that he’s loved even beyond his immediate political catchment area in Lagos West but across the state where he has touched lives, saying “that your glorious days are nearer than your adversaries can see.”
Wishing him many more blissful years ahead, Doherty told Ogungbe not to allow the mindless manipulation that truncated his recent electioneering efforts to deter him from his focus to change the course of APC’s bloodsucking governance to a more humane service through the PDP, both for the people of Lagos West and beyond who have come to love him for his generosity as an untiring spreader of kindness and joy.
