“Do Not Follow a Divorcee as Your Friend” — Peace Ibiyeomie Advises Women on Marriage and Remarriage
Peace Ibiyeomie, wife of David Ibiyeomie, has advised women against maintaining close friendships with divorced women who are unwilling to reconcile with their former spouses or remarry.
She made the remarks during a Mother’s Day celebration service at Salvation Ministries.
According to her, some divorced women publicly dismiss the importance of men and marriage while privately remaining involved in relationships.
Ibiyeomie argued that women should encourage divorced relatives and friends to rebuild their marriages or consider remarriage instead of becoming resentful toward men.
“Do not follow a divorcee as your friend even if she is your sister. Teach her, either she reconciles with her husband or she remarries,” she said.
She also claimed that some unmarried women in church had admitted to being involved in secret relationships despite publicly stating otherwise.
“They keep saying the man is not important. If he is not important, why are you sleeping with him?” she added.
Her comments have drawn attention online, particularly amid ongoing conversations around marriage, divorce and gender expectations within religious communities.
