Dismembered Body of Missing Kwara Student Found in Facebook Friend’s Home
The dismembered body of a missing final-year student from Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, has been discovered in the home of a man she met on Facebook. The suspect, identified as Alfa Abdulrahman, was arrested after police investigations linked him to the disappearance of the student, Yetunde Lawal.
According to reports, Lawal went missing on February 10, 2025, after she left a naming ceremony upon receiving a phone call from a friend. When she failed to return home, concerned family members launched a search but were unable to locate her. Her parents reported the case to the Oja Oba Police Station in Ilorin on February 11, and the police tracked her last phone call to a residence in Offa Garage, Ilorin. The suspect, whose family house is in Isalekuto, was subsequently arrested.
Initially, Abdulrahman denied any involvement, claiming Lawal had suffered an asthma attack after arriving at his residence. However, a police search of his home led to the gruesome discovery of Lawal’s dismembered remains concealed in a bowl, along with equipment used in the act. Further findings suggested the suspect might have been involved in similar crimes, as a table in his room appeared to be set up for dismembering bodies.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that the case was reported at the C Division, Oja Oba, by Lawal’s father, Ibrahim A. Lawal. She noted that detectives swiftly took action, tracked the suspect, and recovered evidence. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. The police assured the public that updates would be provided as inquiries continue.
