Details of Peter Obi’s London Meeting Emerge

Peter Obi has disclosed details of his recent meeting in London with stakeholders in British politics and the business community, including Lord Jonathan Marland.

In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Tuesday, Obi said the discussions focused on trade opportunities, economic development, and support for small businesses in Nigeria.

The former Anambra State governor explained that the meeting centred on strategies to strengthen Nigeria’s economy through deliberate support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

“As I have consistently asserted, our micro, small, and medium enterprises serve as the driving force behind economic growth, and it is imperative that we provide them with vigorous support to enhance development and create significant employment opportunities, particularly within the agriculture and manufacturing sectors,” Obi said.

He added that countries such as China, Indonesia, and Vietnam achieved rapid economic growth through sustained investment in manufacturing and small businesses.

“Strengthening the MSME sector will not only improve productivity but also help tackle unemployment and poverty across the country,” he stated.

Obi reiterated that stronger institutional support for small businesses remains essential to expanding economic opportunities and boosting local production in Nigeria.
