Democracy Day: Federal Government Declares June 12 as Public Holiday
The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, June 12, a public holiday in honor of this year’s Democracy Day celebration. The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and confirmed in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, released on Tuesday.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo congratulated Nigerians on the occasion and urged them to reflect on the efforts of the nation’s founding fathers, emphasizing the importance of unity, security, peace, and the indivisibility of Nigeria. “As we mark another Democracy Day in the history of our dear country, let us all reflect on the efforts of our founding fathers and ensure that Nigeria remains a united, secured, peaceful, and indivisible entity,” he stated.
He also called on citizens to remain committed to the principles of democratic governance and acknowledged the ongoing efforts of President Bola Tinubu to implement reforms aimed at reviving the nation’s economy and enhancing security.
