“David Mark Is Leading Us to Aso Rock” — Coalition Declares at Abuja Unveiling

Ralph Nwosu, founder and pioneer Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has announced that former Senate President David Mark is now at the helm of a broad opposition coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. Speaking at the unveiling of the coalition at the Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, Nwosu declared that the group had collectively stepped aside to give Mark full leadership of the movement, stating, “We all decided to resign so that Mark can paddle this canoe and get us to the Villa.”

The coalition has also appointed former Osun State Governor and former Tinubu ally, Rauf Aregbesola, as its Secretary. Nwosu praised Aregbesola’s record of public service, calling it unmatched and crucial to the coalition’s mission. He emphasized that Nigerians were desperate for change and that the coalition represents a viable alternative. “My job will not end until we sing the national anthem in the Villa. That will be the real hope,” Nwosu said passionately. He warned that Nigeria was “in ICU,” citing daily loss of lives, and urged new political leaders to lift the country into global relevance.

Nwosu rallied support for the new leadership and called for unity, warning detractors that any opposition to the coalition’s direction would be seen as anti-ADC. “We shouldn’t be apologetic. We need to be ready for this battle,” he said, expressing confidence in the coalition’s ability to overcome future challenges.

The event drew a powerful crowd of political figures including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar; Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi; former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai; former Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi; and former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha, signaling the seriousness of the opposition’s effort to reshape Nigeria’s political landscape.
