Covid19: Unilag Shuts down Staff Club
In a bid to curb the spread of Coronavirus, the management of the University of Lagos has shut down the institution’s Staff Club.
Mrs Fadeke Akinleye, the Head of the media unit of the university, made this known to journalists, stating that it was simply a precautionary measure.
She stated that “We have shut down the staff club, following a directive issued by the VC of the Institution, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe”.
“It is a precautionary measure and this is in line with the directive of the Federal Government that clubs should be shut.”
She however stated that, the action had absolutely nothing to do with the alleged cases of Covid19 reported among some former lecturers in the institution.
You would recall that a former VC of the university, Prof Oyewunmi Ibidapo-Obe was reported to have died of Covid19 related issues.
In the same vein, a former Dean of Faculty of Education in the institution was also reported to have died of Covid19 related issues, barely three days after the death of Prof Ibidapo-Obe.
