Court Stops Benue APC Chairman From Parading Himself As Party Chair

The Benue State High Court has issued a restraining order against the suspended state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Austin Agada, preventing him from portraying himself as the party’s chairman. This legal action follows his suspension by his ward chairman and six others on Tuesday.

The situation escalated into chaos when unidentified security personnel, donned in plain clothes, forcefully disrupted a press conference at the party’s secretariat. The APC in the state has pointed fingers at Paul Biam, the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Benue State, and Ugwu Odoh, the Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment and Climate, accusing them of orchestrating an attack involving police and army personnel during the Owukpa Ehaje Ward One chairman’s press conference.

Pandemonium erupted as security personnel stormed the venue, assaulting those present. The APC chairman of Owukpa Ehaje Ward One clarified that the executive committee convened at the secretariat to express confidence in the chairman and distance themselves from the suspension imposed by a faction.

In response, Agada, facing allegations of anti-party activities, asserted that the orchestrated attack aimed to forcibly oust him from the chairman’s position.
