Council Chairman, Driver, Aides Abducted in Benue State
Gunmen have kidnapped the Chairman of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State, Reverend Gideon Haanongon, along with his Personal Assistant on Administration, Silas Yuhwam, his driver, and orderly. The abduction occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning along Anyagba, Tongov, in Katsina Ala Local Government Area.
The Secretary of the Council, Jonathan Modi, revealed the distressing news in an official statement. The incident unfolded around 6:30 am as the victims were en route to attend the burial ceremony of the paramount ruler of the LG, HRH Chief Fezaanga Wombo.
Modi urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding as efforts are underway to secure the release of the abducted individuals. The Benue State Police Command has yet to respond to inquiries regarding the incident, leaving the community anxiously awaiting updates on the situation.
