“Corrupt Members Will Face the Law” – ADC Issues Strong Warning
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has pledged strict accountability for its members, saying anyone found guilty of corruption will face legal consequences.
National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, speaking on TVC’s Fireworks, said the party will not shield officials from investigation or prosecution. He highlighted a forthcoming ethical code designed to set the ADC apart from Nigeria’s traditional political class.
“The political class in general has been discredited in Nigeria. We knew we had a duty to convince Nigerians that we are different,” Abdullahi said, noting that the code will soon be made public.
Under the code, party officials who previously held public office and misused their positions will face consequences. “One of those principles is zero tolerance,” he added.
Abdullahi also criticized selective enforcement of anti-corruption measures, citing former Kaduna State governor Nasir El‑Rufai and former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami. “If you are going to hold some individuals accountable, the same standard should apply to everyone,” he said, emphasizing that justice must be impartial.
He further accused the ruling APC of leniency toward its own members while treating opposition figures more harshly. The ADC’s ethical code is expected to be released soon, signaling the party’s commitment to accountability.
