‘Coming and Taking Back Your Position is Not For You to Use it to Destroy my Government’ Fubara Tells Reappointed Commissioners
Governor Siminilayi Fubara of Rivers State has issued a stern warning to his newly appointed Chief of Staff, Mr. Edison Ehie, and five Special Advisers, urging them not to misuse their privileged positions by antagonizing others. In a ceremony held yesterday in Port Harcourt, where the Chief of Staff and advisers were sworn in, Governor Fubara emphasized the need for responsible governance.
Governor Fubara stated that his administration, facing various challenges, has been entrusted to divine intervention, expressing confidence that God will continue to guide the state. He cautioned the re-appointed commissioners, particularly those loyal to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, against actions that could undermine the stability of his government.
The governor urged the newly appointed officials to view their roles as a call to duty, emphasizing the importance of adding value to governance and upholding the credibility of the state. He stressed, “Don’t use this position to antagonize anybody, even in your localities. What God cannot do does not exist.”
In an additional directive, Governor Fubara instructed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to assign responsibilities to the commissioners sworn in the previous week. He emphasized the importance of supporting the government and cautioned against any attempts to sabotage its efforts. The governor concluded by stating, “Coming and taking back your position is not for you to use it to destroy my government. It is about the things that you can stand to defend and be proud of many years after.”
