Clark Urges PDP: Investigate Wike’s Role in 2023 Elections

In the midst of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, Chief Edwin Clark, former Federal Commissioner for Information and South South Leader, has advocated for a thorough investigation into the actions of key figures, including former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, during the 2023 elections. Clark has called for the establishment of a Disciplinary Committee to probe alleged anti-party activities that contributed to the PDP’s electoral setbacks.

Clark has singled out Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), as a significant obstacle to the PDP’s success, accusing him of manipulating the party with the aim of its destruction. He emphasized the need for decisive action against Wike’s perceived anti-party actions, urging the formation of a robust disciplinary committee comprising individuals resistant to pecuniary influences.

In a statement released in Abuja, Clark also called for the immediate dissolution of the current National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP, citing their involvement in anti-party activities. He proposed the appointment of an Acting National Chairman in accordance with the party’s constitution, highlighting the precedent set during the tenure of Prince Uche Secondus.

Furthermore, Clark urged the party to revisit its online membership registration initiated by Dr. Okwesilieze Nwodo, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the party from undue influence and manipulation by individuals.

Clark also cautioned against nominating former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s candidate for the 2027 elections, warning that such a decision could jeopardize the PDP’s standing as the country’s second principal party.

The veteran statesman reiterated his commitment to speaking out on governance and political matters, stressing the necessity of addressing issues that could adversely affect the nation.
