Chaos at Lagos Airport as Passengers Disrupt Airline’s Operations

Passengers of Dana Airline caused mayhem at Murtala Muhammed Airport wing 2 (MMA2) in Lagos on Monday, as frustration over repeated flight delays and cancellations reached a boiling point. The incident occurred around 6 p.m., following the abrupt cancellation of two flights to Port Harcourt and Owerri.

According to sources at the airport, some passengers had been stranded for over 24 hours, enduring delays and last-minute cancellations without prior notice. An anonymous airport official revealed that promises made by the airline regarding rescheduled flights were not fulfilled, leading to mounting frustration among the passengers.

In a violent turn of events, enraged passengers vandalized the check-in counter facility, disconnecting computers used for flight check-ins. Airport attendants bore the brunt of the chaos, with reports of severe beatings by the irate passengers.

Dana Airline, in an official statement posted on its X page (formerly Twitter), apologized for the flight schedule delays, attributing them to non-scheduled maintenance. The statement expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to passengers and emphasized the airline’s commitment to safety.

Despite the disruptions, aggrieved passengers were eventually called to board around 9:00 p.m., following the intervention of aviation security agencies.
