Certificate Controversy: APC-USA Warns NADECO Against Embarrassing Tinubu with Press Conference

The United States chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) in response to their planned press conference addressing the controversy surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s academic certificate from Chicago State University. The APC USA has expressed strong reservations about the press conference, asserting that the university has already confirmed the authenticity of the certificate in question.

The warning came just two days after David Adenekan, the Publicity Secretary of NADECO USA, announced that the organization intended to hold a world press conference at Chicago City Hall on Monday at 9:45 a.m. The stated purpose of this conference was to provide journalists and the international community with the opportunity to ask questions and conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged certificate forgery of President Bola Tinubu.

In response to NADECO’s plans, the Chairman of APC USA, Prof Tai Balofin, released a statement on Sunday evening condemning the move. He characterized NADECO’s actions as a smokescreen aimed at vilifying the president. Balofin argued that the matter of Tinubu’s academic certificate had already been addressed, with Chicago State University confirming its authenticity. Furthermore, Balofin expressed his disapproval of NADECO USA’s involvement in discussing a matter that is already before the courts.

Balofin stated, “The allegation surrounding President Tinubu’s educational certificate from Chicago State University has been addressed, with CSU confirming the certificate’s authenticity. It is crucial to note that this matter is already in the hands of the appropriate authorities, specifically the courts, where due process and legal procedures will be followed.”

He also urged supporters of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar to await the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling on the matter. Balofin clarified that the group organizing the world press conference under the banner of NADECO USA is not the original NADECO that President Tinubu was a part of during the Abacha era and cautioned against misinterpretations of history.
