Canada qualifies for World Cup after 36 years
Canada has qualified for the World Cup scheduled to hold in Qatar later in the year 36 years after their first qualification in 1986.
Canada beat Jamaica in Toronto by 4goals to nil to clinch the the ticket.
There were wild celebrations at Toronto’s 30,000-capacity BMO Field, after the extra-ordinary feat by the Canadian national team.
The Canadian team was reported to have dominated the match against a Jamaica side that had already being eliminated from contention in the CONCACAF region’s qualifying tournament for this year’s finals in Qatar.
Goals from Cyle Larin, Tajon Buchanan, Junior Hoilett and an Adrian Mariappa own goal secured all three points for Canada
