Bus Accident Claims 17 Lives, Injures 34
On Tuesday, a bus overturned on a highway connecting Kabul to northern Afghanistan, resulting in the deaths of at least 17 people and injuries to 34 others.
Mustafa Hashemi, the director of information and culture of Baghlan province, confirmed the accident. The victims include 12 men, two women, and three children, marking a significant loss for the local community and highlighting the ongoing dangers of Afghan roadways.
Afghanistan’s roads, plagued by decades of neglect and conflict, are notorious for poor conditions, which, along with reckless driving and inadequate regulations, contribute to frequent traffic accidents. This latest tragedy follows a similar incident in March in Helmand province, where 21 people died and 38 were injured after a bus collided with an oil tanker and a motorbike.
