Buhari Renominates INEC Chairman, Yakubu for Second Term
President Muhammadu Buhari has renominated the Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu for a second term in office.
In a letter to the president of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, Buhari said he is “pleased to present for confirmation by the Senate, the nomination of Professor Mahmood Yakubu for appointment as Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a second and final term.”
Yakubu was first appointed in November 2015 by Buhari.
Under his watch, the integrity of the elections has continued to decline, prompting U.S and UK Governments to slam Visa ban on election riggers.
