Brutal Cult War: Three Hacked to Death in Lagos

Three people have been brutally hacked to death in Lagos State as a deadly cult war escalates in the Ebute Metta and Makoko areas of the state.

The killings, which occurred between Sunday, July 14, and Monday, July 15, are believed to be connected to an ongoing clash between rival cult groups operating in the area. The latest victims have been identified as *Agbara*, *Butcher*, and a yet-to-be-identified plumber.

According to eyewitness accounts, the violence began on Sunday evening when *Agbara* was attacked and killed on Lagos Street in Ebute Metta. His body was found with multiple machete wounds. A resident, who spoke to reporters on condition of anonymity, said the community was thrown into panic during the attack.

“I was at home when people started running. Later, we found Agbara lying in a pool of blood with deep machete cuts. He was well known in the area,” the source said.

In a suspected reprisal attack the following night, two more individuals were killed. *Butcher* was reportedly murdered in the Makoko area. His body, also bearing severe cuts, was discovered wrapped in cloth. Residents say he earned the nickname “Butcher” due to his father’s occupation as a meat seller.

“He was killed late Sunday night, but we only heard the news on Monday morning. It’s really disturbing. We heard he left behind a pregnant wife,” a local resident shared.

The third victim, a plumber whose identity had not been confirmed as of press time, was reportedly dragged through Abeokuta Street and stabbed to death under the bridge. Witnesses initially believed he was being punished for a financial dispute until his body was later found with his throat slit.

“We need urgent intervention. The killings are becoming too frequent. Our community is living in fear,” a resident appealed.

In response to the rising violence, the Lagos State Police Command has deployed Anti-Cultism Squads across all area commands to quell the unrest. Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the deployment on Tuesday and assured residents that efforts are ongoing to restore peace and apprehend those responsible.

No arrests have been officially confirmed at the time of this report.
