Brothers Kill Sibling Over Inheritance in Anambra
A 37-year-old man was fatally attacked by his brothers in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area, following a dispute over family property.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that the incident occurred around 4:50 p.m. on February 11, 2026, at Umunkwo Village, Ula, Ekwulobia. The victim, Onyedika Okpala, was allegedly assaulted with machetes by his siblings, Okwudili Okpala and Chigbo Okpala, during a confrontation over inheritance rights.
A family source said the victim sustained severe head injuries, leading to heavy bleeding and collapse at the scene.
The victim’s sister reported the attack to the police, who promptly dispatched officers to the area. However, the suspects had already fled. Onyedika Okpala was rushed to General Hospital, Ekwulobia, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
His body has been kept in the hospital morgue pending autopsy. Authorities have launched an investigation and are intensifying efforts to apprehend the suspects.
