Boko Haram Strikes Again in Hong, Adamawa, Destroys Property, Hoists Flags

Suspected Boko Haram terrorists launched another violent attack on Dabna village in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, destroying homes and properties while hoisting their flag in a show of force. The assault reportedly began around 10 p.m. on Friday and lasted until about 3 a.m. on Saturday.

Armed with sophisticated weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), the attackers stormed the village in the Yadul/Dugwaba District, leaving a trail of destruction. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the assailants burned down several houses and properties before raising their flag as a symbol of conquest.

Local sources noted that Garaha, a nearby community just three kilometres from Dabna, narrowly escaped a similar fate due to the intervention of military forces, mobile police units, and local vigilantes who responded quickly to the threat.

This latest attack comes only three days after another deadly incident in Bangah, a suburb of Garaha located near the Sambisa forest in neighbouring Borno State. That earlier attack left seven people dead and resulted in the destruction of homes and vehicles.

Dr. Raymond Chidama, an indigene of Dabna and secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State, expressed deep concern over the continuous wave of violence in the area. Speaking from Yola, the state capital, Chidama described the situation in Hong as dire, saying, “The attacks on these communities have now become a daily affair, bringing fear and terror into the remnants of people there.”

He added that many residents had already fled the area and were unlikely to return anytime soon due to the persistent threat of violence.

Hong is one of the seven local government areas in northern Adamawa that have long suffered from Boko Haram insurgency, along with Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, and Gombi.
