Bobrisky Released from EFCC Custody, Denies Alleged N15 Million Bribery Claims

Nigerian social media personality and cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). This follows allegations that he had claimed to pay a N15 million bribe to EFCC officials to drop money laundering charges. Bobrisky has strongly denied these claims, calling the accusations baseless.

Bobrisky was detained on Thursday night at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos while attempting to board a KLM flight bound for Amsterdam with a final destination in London. Following his arrest, he was transferred to the EFCC headquarters in Abuja, where he was questioned about the alleged bribe.

The controversy erupted after a voice recording surfaced, in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed he had bribed EFCC officials with N15 million to avoid prosecution. The recording was made public by social commentator Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, sparking heated discussions online. However, Bobrisky has since refuted these claims, urging Otse to provide evidence to substantiate the audio’s authenticity.

A source close to the investigation stated that during his time with the EFCC, Bobrisky denied ever paying or being asked to pay a bribe. “He denied everything, stating that no money was exchanged and no EFCC official had requested any form of payment. He challenged Otse to justify the allegations made in the recording,” the source confirmed.

The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, has since confirmed Bobrisky’s release but declined to provide further details on the case.
